In the dream inside the story I am climbing the exterior of the cubicle in the attic, pink insulation clinging to my pants legs, trying to escape the men with the razors. The huffing of the dogs resounding in the dark. The storm outside, pulsing. The wind raging. I lay across the rafters, paranoid and panting. Waiting, knowing none of my pursuers has been eluded.
